Terms of sale
These terms apply when you buy from Scott Fencing. Please read them before you pay: ticking the box at checkout and paying means you accept them.
Your order
You choose your timber, confirm your delivery postcode and day, add your details and any access notes, tick the box to confirm you've read these terms, then pay on the secure payment page. Your order is accepted, and a contract formed, when your payment goes through. We then email you an order confirmation.
Please check your quantities, postcode, address and delivery day before you pay. We prepare your order from the details you give us.
Once you've paid, your order is committed: we set aside your timber and your delivery day, and may turn other orders away for that day.
Minimum order
The minimum order is £200.00 of goods, not counting delivery. The checkout won't let an order below the minimum through.
Prices and payment
Prices are per piece (or per bag for post mix) as shown on the site when you order. Delivery is charged per order and depends on your postcode. Before you pay, the checkout shows the goods total, the delivery charge and the total you'll pay. Payment is by card through our card payment provider, and your card details are never seen or stored by us.
Timber is a natural material
Timber sizes are nominal and approximate. Pieces can vary slightly in size, and will vary in grain, colour, knots and resin. Small splits, surface checks and slight movement are normal in timber and aren't faults. Product drawings on the site show the shape and sizing of each item, not the look of a particular piece.
Delivery
Delivery is to the kerb or the closest suitable point we can reach, on the day you chose (that's the day, not a set time). Timber isn't carried through houses, along side passages or into back gardens. You don't need to be in. Our delivery policy gives the full details, including what happens if access is a problem.
Risk in the goods passes to you once they're delivered. The goods are yours once they're delivered and paid for.
Checking your order
Please check your timber on the day it arrives and tell us the same day if anything is missing, damaged or not what you ordered. Email info@scottfencing.co.uk with your order reference and photos.
Cancelling and returns if you're a consumer
If you're buying as a consumer, you can cancel before your order is delivered, or return stocked items for a refund within 14 days of the day they're delivered, without giving a reason. Email info@scottfencing.co.uk with your order reference and the items you're cancelling or returning.
Returned items must reach us within 14 days of telling us, unused, uncut, unfixed and untreated, and in a condition we can resell. You pay the cost of returning them. We'll refund the items, and the standard delivery charge if the whole order comes back, within 14 days of receiving and checking them. If items come back used, cut, fixed, treated, damaged or otherwise not fit to resell, we'll reduce the refund to reflect that, up to their full value. Items ordered in specially for you, or cut or made to your sizes, can't be returned unless faulty.
If you cancel before delivery, we refund everything you paid within 14 days of your cancellation.
The changes and refunds page sets this out step by step.
Buying for a business
If you're buying for a business, the returns above don't apply. Email us as soon as possible if you need to change an order and we'll help where we can.
Faulty or wrong goods
If something we send is faulty, damaged or not as described, tell us and we'll put it right with a replacement or a refund. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
Our responsibility
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for how timber is used or installed once delivered. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're buying for a business, we're not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect loss.
If something goes wrong
Email us first and we'll try to sort it out. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
