Who we supply

Taller fencing for a more private garden

If the fence you have leaves the garden overlooked, going taller and fully closeboarded is the straightforward answer. It does change the timber you need.

What changes when you go taller

Taller boards catch more wind, so the posts get longer and stronger and the rails get heavier. For 2.1m or 2.4m boards, the calculator switches to 3m posts and 4x2 rails.

Planning rules can limit fence height, especially on a boundary next to a road. Check with your local council before you build above the usual height.

2.1m boards

On 3m posts, with three rows of 4x2 rails.

2.4m boards

On 3m 4x4 posts, with three rows of 4x2 rails.

Narrow boards

125mm boards on a 1.8m fence give a tighter look.

Questions

Will a taller fence need more post mix?

Longer posts sit deeper, so allow at least the calculator's figure, and more for bigger holes.
