Fencing and sleepers for bungalow gardens
Bungalow gardens often wrap around the house, with a lower front fence, a taller back boundary and beds that are easier to tend when they're raised.
Two heights, one order
A low front fence on 1.2m boards and a full-height fence at the back can go in the same basket. Use the calculator for each and add both.
Raised sleeper beds bring planting up to a comfortable working height. Two or three layers of sleepers on their side is a common choice.
Worth knowing
- Timber is left at the kerb, so plan who'll move it into the garden.
- Shorter 1.2m sleepers make the ends of a bed easier to handle.

Questions
Will the driver bring the timber to the back garden?
No. It's left at the kerb or nearest suitable point, so arrange help to move it if you need it.
